Maintenance and lifespan of a geodesic dome

The canvas

Double-sided PVC-coated polyester, 100% watertight, UV-resistant, tear-proof and self-cleaning: rinsing with clean water is enough in most cases. Avoid harsh products and close-range pressure washers.

Regular checks

A few points to check throughout the seasons:

• Canvas tension after a strong wind episode
• Ground fixings and tightness of the structure
• The entrance zip, to be cleaned and lubricated
• Snow load on the vault, to be kept under 50 kg/m²

Condensation and ventilation

When lived in, the water vapour produced inside needs to be able to escape. The SkyDome and regular ventilation limit condensation on the insulation panels.

Replacement parts

An accessory can be ordered on its own, including a new PVC cover: changing the canvas is also a way to refresh the feel of an accommodation after a few seasons.
