Assembling a geodesic dome: duration, crew and site preparation

A dome can be assembled without heavy machinery, but not by one person alone. The quality of site preparation determines the time spent on site.
The observed assembly time
If your site is ready to receive the dome upon delivery, allow 2 full days for 4 people, or 4 full days if there are only 2 of you. We do not recommend doing it alone.
Preparing the site before delivery
Plan ahead for the following, to avoid wasting time:
- A flat, stable ground area matching the right diameter
- The platform or floor, not supplied with the dome
- Access allowing delivery of the packages
- The choice of fixing method, from among the three available
The order of operations
The metal structure is assembled first, triangle by triangle, then the PVC canvas is unfolded and stretched over the vault, before fitting the circular entrance, the SkyDome and the interior insulation panels.
